JAMU 2008

The contemporary dance performance series is back with new choreography by Umesh Shetty, Zhou Gui Xin, Wong Kit Yaw, Steve Goh, Suhaili Ahmad Kamil, Aris Kadir, Tan Lian Ho and Joseph Gonzales. Bringing new work to the stage has been a staple of ASWARA's Dance Department earning kudos and respect for ingenuity and cross-cultural explorations that have earned them more than 12 Cameronian Arts Awards in the last 5 years! This is no mean feat and is proving that the hotbed of contemporary explorations can and should take place in an institution of higher learning - where theory meets practice.

JAMU 2008 - 'Intoxicating Eyes: Sikkil Gurucharan and Anil Srivnivasan with SUTRA DANCE THEATRE and ASWARA DANCERS

Respected music composers and vocalists from India - Anil Srinivasan (piano) and Sikkil Gurucharan (vocal) bring their art to ASWARA in collaboration with SUTRA DANCE THEATRE. The music extravaganza will be supported by dance improvisations by SUTRA's Ramli Ibrahim, Guna and January Low with Yunus Ismail, Liza Saad, Baizura Ghani and Faillul Adam from ASWARA.

This ONE NIGHT ONLY performance will include:a) Asimugam (dance solo by January Low)
b) Improvisation (Theruvil Varano) performed by dancers and musicians.

This event will include a Lecture - Demonstration as follows:
